Girl On Fire

The lights grew dim on her cinnamon skin
to form a low glow silhouette
as the curtains open
the crowd is met with her hips, round, hypnotic
circumventing in tiny circles.

With an upwards gaze
her gold medallion eyes speak
feverish, but with confidence
“I Am Ready.”

It took walking home in a rainstorm
To realize I still felt beautiful
Frizzy haired, make-up smeared
You still saw my eyes amber and my head strong
And that was enough for me.
